The course offers a convenient way to get the basic knowledge needed to be successful in any HR role in higher education.
When you take the course, you’ll:
- Explore strategies and challenges related to workplace culture, employee retention, and HR leadership
- Work through scenarios to become familiar with FLSA job classification in higher education, including classification of support staff and faculty
- Become acquainted with important labor laws that impact higher education such as Title IX
- Learn about unionization processes and regulations for both public and private institutions
Boot Camp Content
This e-learning course consists of 8 modules:

- Benefits
- Employee and Union Relations
- Policy, Operations and Data
- Compliance
- Training and Organizational Development
Each module contains content related to that subject area as well as explanations and examples of their practical application to higher education.
Each module also contains a knowledge assessment to ensure participants have achieved a basic understanding of the content.
CUPA-HR Boot Camp was developed in conjunction with the association’s learning framework, which guides all CUPA-HR education and programming. Additionally, this course includes tie ins to other resources from the CUPA-HR Knowledge Center to help participants extend their learning.
